The iPad

The story of my Apple products love began in 1999 when I purchased a G3 iBook for college. With my student discount I was very happy with the purchase price, and even more happy with my purchase. Over the next few years I enjoyed my laptop, but had to occasionally take it to an apple store to have the logic board replaced - a free service everytime. After the 5th time, Apple took it upon themselves to 'make right' by me and decided to give me a brand new computer (turns out the logic board problem was part of a hardware engineering problem that effected a small amount of G3 iBooks in the production year mine came from). So, in 2005 Apple replaced my iBook with a brand new MacBook Pro - free of charge. So for the past 5 years I've used and loved and never had a single problem with that Mac. Recently Lisa had become the main user of that laptop...on which she stalked on facebook and checked her email. So, a few weeks ago Lisa mentioned that she was interested in getting an e-reader....and began talking about a kindle. But me, being the AAPL fan that I am, informed her that if she wanted an e-reader that we would just get her 'the best' - an iPad! So, as I do with any object I purchase, I formulated my plan to sell something that I already own in order to fund a new purchase. After thinking about it for a few days I realized that we owned a MacBook Pro that wasn't being used to it's fullest potential (facebook and email is an insult to it's full ability), and decided it would be a great idea to sell the MacBook Pro and purchase an iPad. After discussing it with Lisa, I posted an ad on Craigslist. Then we waited. It only took 3 days, and we were meeting with a musician looking for a computer to run recording software, etc - and we made the exchange. Immediately upon placing the cash in my pocket, we jumped in the car, drove to the Apple store and handed the first salesperson we saw the cash from my pocket. Then Lisa proudly carried her new iPad on her back out of the store.

Having replaced a laptop with the iPad, and using it for over a week now, I can honestly say that it's an amazing product. And Lisa spends more time on facebook than she ever did before (probably not good). And reading books on the thing is absolutely astounding - just ask Lisa about how the pages turn!! It's hard to describe how amazing it is to interact with information and media in the way the iPad allows you to - I think you really have to use one for an extended period of time to fully appreciate and understand the marvel of it. It's like you're holding the future in your hands! Anyways, that's my story...I figures I'd share...especially since I haven't blogged in forever and a day. Thoughts? Comments?
